John had to work today {sad} but he gets double time and a half {happy} so yesterday we skipped church {bad} and headed to Cave Falls! On the way there John found a little side road ~ John LOVES taking side roads and seeing where they lead to ~ this road led to the Bechler Ranger Station! It was sunny so we decided to have a picnic there...

We packed up and headed to Cave Falls! It was a nice day, sprinkled off and on for a bit but no wind. When we got to Cave Falls the girls and I had flip-flops ~ as seen in picture above ~ on {we had tennis shoes but left them in the car}~ it was a little muddy and slippery ~ so we hung out by the water fall and explored a few trails while John and the boys went down to the cave {besides...caves scare me}...
The falls weren't huge but it was pretty and now we can say we've been to Cave Falls! On the way out John found another side road he wanted to take and we had to stop and let the boy's shoot their "pingers" {ya know ya can't be a true red-neck unless ya take your gun{s} with ya and shoot at empty soda cans and animal crackers}...
And last but not least we stopped and fed the fish at Warm River but by then it was getting a little chilly and the rain was startin' to fall so we threw a loaf of bread at the fishes {Jace and Halle ate most of theirs} and headed home! It was a fun day and we hope to take more road trips this summer ~ just jump in the car and head somewhere we haven't been! So thankful for...1) all of the men and women in our Armed Forces who have fought for our freedom 2) a day to remember them and those we have lost 3) the beautifully decorated cemeteries.

I LOVE road trips!! Seth likes to take those side roads too and sometimes I admit it drives me NUTS! What a fun day with your family Chris! I think you have such a cute wonderful family. I seriously can not believe how different John looks without that beard.
LOVE all your pictures you took. I especially like your shirt. I totally dig those shirts that the sleeves come to your elbow - could you tell me where you found it? I know kinda random but.....
On our way home from camping this weekend we stopped at Warm River and fed the fish TOO!!! Man, there are some HUGE fish - the boys just thought that was so cool!
These weekends go by WAAAY too fast!
I have never been to Cave Falls and am now happily adding that to a list of places to go see. Sounds like a super fun get-away!
I love the spontaneous things we get to do with family! Looks like a wonderful weekend. I don't think we can go anywhere into the hills without taking guns. We all love to shoot...even Addi says "Hoot Gun."
I HAVE TO SAY...YOU LOOK WONDERFUL!!! I think you need to go a little bragging before and after picture you yourself. Chris you deserve it...you look amazing and have done such a wonderful job! It was good to see a picture of yourself. Seriously you should do it...

Looks like a fun ride. My husband had to go to Boise this weekend, I so wanted to take a ride and get away for a little while. Cave Falls is beautiful isn't it. Well, of course you need to do a little target practice, does that mean I'm a red neck???
