We cut down our beautiful blue spruce pine tree a few weeks ago! It was killing all the grass underneath, growing into the hedges, and was really getting just too big! Well a project like that requires 4 guys, a chainsaw, and them all wanting to take turns at running the chainsaw!! Justin was up and at 'em bright and early and started taking off the lower branches with the trimmers {this over protective mama didn't want her baby
runnin' the chainsaw without his dad around so I told him he could start with the trimmer....which resulted in him walking away, shaking his head and mumbling something about "gay"!!!} But Grandpa and his dad showed up and they went to work...

I want ya to look at this next picture and look at the two guys wearing the blue shirts and jeans...see if you can tell which one is John and which one is Justin...
I know it's not too hard to tell, but at just a quick glance you sometimes can't tell who's who!! Justin is almost a little taller than John!! And since he started wearin' some of his clothes...it makes it even a little more tricky! Definitely like father, like son, two peas in a pod, and double trouble!! Here's one more...John or Justin???
After they got most of the lower branches trimmed off they made a big notch out of the back and with a few good pushes from a few strong men...
the tree was down and to Justin's delight he got to saw his little heart out and cut it into pieces!!! John spent the next few days chopping around the roots with an ax trying to get it out, with Hal bringing him cold drinks as needed, which was quite often cause she kept filling up the smallest glass we have in the house...

after a few days of it not budging, a big backhoe drove by and had it out in about 2 minutes!! But notice the absence of Justin...once the fun part was over and the hard work and clean up was needed, he disappeared! But John has since removed all the roots, leveled it with more dirt , and now just need grass seeds and a new tree!! Now we just need to decide what kind of tree we want there!!
So thankful for...1) the backhoe that came along and saved John HOURS of work 2) my dad, Justin, and my brother Blake for all their help 3) it was out and everything cleaned up way sooner than I expected it to be....some projects around here can last weeks {even months} on end ;)
